Taking care of your teak furniture

Teak wood, even more so reclaimed teak wood, is extremely durable. However, wood will always experience some movement and change related to its surrounding environment. Small hairline cracks may sometimes appear, but are just part of the charm of the reclaimed timber. Aside from that, there are some additional methods to ensure your furniture maintains its looks and finishing.

While all our items are finished with high-quality water-based finish coats, re-applying the finish every few years can help maintain the item’s best look.

Stains and spills must be dealt with immediately, cleaned up with a dry or damp towel before the water gets into the timber. Tougher stains can be removed by sanding the affected area, and re-applying a finish coat to match the item’s colour.

Dirt and other mild stains can also be removed by scrubbing the area with warm soapy water. Please avoid using harsh chemical soaps, and instead using specific options such as this. Also make sure to scrub along the grain for better results.

Furniture stored in sunlight will also begin to lose colour over time. We recommend keeping your indoor furniture away from direct sunlight, or it will need its finish coat reapplied consistently.
