OUR TEAM
Nusantara Lifestyle is a furniture manufacturing company who develop pieces derived from 100% reclaimed teakwood, alongside other eco-friendly and natural materials. Our factory is in Yogyakarta, on the island of Java, Indonesia, with our central showroom on the world-famous island of Bali, and a number of spaces in other locations around the world.
Nusantara Lifestyle was born from the wishes of its owners, Will and Anysia, to build a furniture brand that is sustainable in more than just words, but in every action they undertake across the business. Having been in the furniture game for over a decade, the pair witnessed the destruction caused by plantation timber, and also the industry-wide practice of calling their plantation teak items sustainable. In a world completely drowning in greenwashing, Will and Anysia wanted to be part of a solution, and walk-the-walk, not just talk the talk. After a couple of years of design, development, and lots of back-and-forth, Nusantara Lifestyle launched in 2024.
Now Nusantara Lifestyle is expanding its positive impact globally. Sitting on a stunning, sustainable site in the hills of Tabanan, Bali, Will, Anysia and the entire team are continuing the journey to do better for the environment, while making timeless furniture that is of the highest quality from the remnants of old teak structures sourced from around the country. Nusantara Lifestyle has an array of furniture ranges for purchase both locally and internationally, as well as working alongside architects, designers and developers to furnish commercial and private projects that are equally eco-conscious. While there is still quite a journey ahead of Nusantara Lifestyle to genuinely practice what it preaches, the team strives daily to ensure it reaches its commitment to having a continuous positive impact on the fragile ecosystems of our world.

Owners
Will hails from Victoria, Australia, and after decades exploring the surf and culture of Indonesia, he settled in the country in 2013, working with NGOs through programs delivered by the Australian government. In 2015, while on assignment in Yogyakarta, he met Anysia, a local biotechnology student with a family background in furniture manufacturing, and the two have hardly left each other’s side since. In 2017 the couple moved to Bali, starting a documentary film business together, while Anysia moved further into the furniture and timber industry. Their first furniture brand was opened in late 2018, before they planned and prepared the sustainable furniture brand they had always wanted, Nusantara Lifestyle. Alongside Anysia’s background in furniture, timber, and the biotechnology, Will also has educational background in Environmental Management and International Development, ensuring that they hold in-depth understanding of the direct and indirect challenges and opportunities faced by the environment and sustainability themes. Furthered by their love for all things nature, including surfing, hiking, camping and exercise, Nusantara Lifestyle is clearly an extension of the couple’s beliefs and actions in their everyday lives.

Will and Anysia’s documentary film team forms a strategic part of Nusantara Lifestyle’s efforts to preserve and tell the stories of the reclaimed timber used to make the brand’s furniture. Established in 2017, PORTRAY (previously Satu Bumi Jaya) has been using film and other mediums to tell the stories of communities across Indonesia and the wider region, with a focus on socio-economic, health, education and environmental issues. With Will as the Director and Producer, and an amazingly talented team, PORTRAY will continue to play a significant part in capturing and sharing the journey of Nusantara Lifestyle well into the future.
